My Favorite Quotes from Anne of Green Gables

Hello there! A couple of weeks ago I finished reading Anne of Green Gables for the first time, and goodness, I just fell in love with it! I really don't know why it took me so long to read it. It's such an enchanting, beautifully-written, heartwarming story, and I love it to bits! You can read my review of it on Goodreads here. :)

Anyways, today I thought I would share some of my favorite quotes from the novel. I've narrowed down the list to just thirteen quotes--which was very hard, let me tell you! I've decided to list them in the order in which they appear in the book, and let them speak for themselves. Even if you haven't yet read Anne of Green Gables, I'm sure you will still be able to enjoy the sheer beauty of these quotes. :)
"'It's delightful when your imaginations come true, isn't it?'"

"'Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?'"

"Overhead was one long canopy of snowy fragrant bloom. Below the boughs the air was full of a purple twilight and far ahead a glimpse of a painted sunset sky shone like a great rose window at the end of a cathedral aisle."

"'Isn't it splendid there are so many things to like in this world?'"

"'But if you call me Anne, please call me Anne spelled with an e.'"

"'It's been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will. Of course, you must make it up firmly.'"

"'Oh, Marilla, looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them.'"

"October was a beautiful month at Green Gables, when the birches in the hollow turned as golden as sunshine and the maples behind the orchard were royal crimson and the wild cherry-trees along the lane put on the loveliest shades of dark red and bronzy green, while the fields sunned themselves in aftermaths.
Anne revelled in the world of colour about her."

"'I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.'"

"'Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.'"

"'Marilla, isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?'"

"A cool wind was blowing down over the long harvest fields from the rims of firry western hills and whistling through the poplars. One clear star hung above the orchard and the fireflies were flitting over in Lover's Lane, in and out among the ferns and rustling boughs. Anne watched them as she talked and somehow felt that wind and stars and fireflies were all tangled up together into something unutterably sweet and enchanting."

"'Dear old world,' she murmured, 'you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.'"
There were so many other lovely quotes that I wanted to include (Lucy Maud Montgomery had such a gift for writing!), but then I'm afraid this post would have been far too long. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post, and feel inspired to read Anne of Green Gables if you haven't already! I definitely recommend it. :)

Thank you so much for stopping by!
