A Period Drama Tag

Hello, dear readers! I was so excited to see that Miss March had tagged me in this fun period drama tag earlier this week, so I'm here today to share my answers! :)

1.) What's your favorite Period Drama movie?

I'd have to say Pride and Prejudice 1995, definitely! Oh, it's just absolutely amazing. I could watch it over and over again and never tire of it. I love it so much. <3

2.) What's your favorite Period Drama series?

Well, I'm in the middle of watching Cranford right now, and so far I'm enjoying it! So let's go with that.

3.) Which Period Drama do you dislike the most?

Let's see...I'm going to go with Pride and Prejudice 2005. After seeing the 1995 version, I just don't like this one as much as I used to.

4.) Anne of Green Gables or Little Dorrit?

I've never seen Little Dorrit, so Anne of Green Gables it is! I love that movie, anyways. :)

5.) Your favorite Period Drama dresses?

Ooh, I like this question! Here are a few of them...

I love this dress that Lizzy wears. The color is so pretty!
This dress is such a lovely shade of green, and I really like the lace around the collar.
I love the neutral color palette of this dress. Plus, those sleeves! <3
Another dress of Lizzy's, this time the one that she wears to the Netherfield Ball. It's quite simple, but very elegant. :)

(Some of Emma Woodhouse's dresses would have definitely been on this list, but seeing as I already did a post about that, I thought I'd try to be a bit more creative!)

6.) Who's your favorite Period Drama character? (Okay, pick at least five.)
  • Elizabeth Bennet. She'd have to be my very favorite! I love her wit, clever remarks, and how she isn't afraid to speak her mind.
  • Anne Shirley. This girl is like a literal ray of sunshine!
  • Jane Bennet. She's such a sweet-tempered girl, and I admire her for her kindness and optimistic outlook on life.
  • Emma Woodhouse. Although I wish she wouldn't meddle so much in other people's affairs, she really is a caring person with a good heart.
  • Lucy Pevensie. She's such a sweet, kind, courageous character. :)

7.) If you could join a royal ball, which dress would you wear? (Pick a period drama dress)

I'm going to go with Emma's ball gown. It's such a dainty, shimmery, girly dress! I would love to dance an evening away while wearing it.
8.) What's your favorite Jane Austen movie?

Pride and Prejudice 1995. Emma 2009 comes in close second, though!

9.) Downton Abbey or Call the Midwife?

Well, I haven't seen Call the Midwife, and although I have seen the first two seasons of Downton Abbey, I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of it or anything. So I suppose neither?

10.)   Sybil Crawley, Jenny Lee, Emma Woodhouse or Marian of Knighton?

Emma Woodhouse.

11.) Which couples of a Period Drama do you like the most? (Pick at least four)

Ooh, another fun question! Time for some adorable pictures. :)
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice 1995. These two are simply the best, and they're so perfect for each other.
Emma and Mr Knightley from Emma 2009. These two make such a sweet pair! My favorite thing about their relationship is how much Mr Knightley helps Emma grow and mature. :)

Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe from Anne of Green Gables. These two are so adorable! (Although they're even cuter in the books.)

Catherine Morland and Mr Tilney from Northanger Abbey. They're soo cute together!

12.) And last, which Period Drama villain do you like the most?

Oh, this one's easy...not! Umm...I actually don't have one! I don't particularly like villains, so I really can't think of a favorite.

Well, that's it! Thank you so much for tagging me, Miss March! I really enjoyed answering these questions. I'm not sure who out of my readers has already done this tag, so if you haven't and want to, by all means do so! You may consider yourself tagged by me. :)

I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Molly

  2. I completely agree with every single answer (I think). Absolutely perfect. Yes to P&P95, love Cranford, hate P&P05.
I love Anne of Green Gables (the book...as far as movies go, watch Little Dorrit :). Love those dresses, and those heroines, and of course P&P95 and Emma 09.
I haven't seen CtM or DA. I'd like to hear your thoughts about DA if you didn't like it.
Love Emma, love those couples, and same about the Villains.
    See? I totally agree. :)
    LOVE this. :)

    1. Haha, I'm glad to hear that we are of the same mind on so many things when it comes to period dramas! :)
Yes, I need to get around to watching Little Dorrit soon!
As for Downton Abbey, I did like certain things about it, but there were just too many skippable scenes for me to feel right about watching it.
      Thanks, Rae! :D

    2. Thanks for the input about Downton Abbey! I am rather wary about watching things with skippable scenes, so thanks for your opinion. I think I'd be rather inclined to agree with you!

  3. Lovely answers Molly!!

The dresses are gorgeous!! I LOVE them!

And the couples, I totally agree, however I don't really like Elizabeth and Darcy, I mean, they aren't my favourite couple en Mr Tilney and Catherine either.

Have you seen Robin Hood BBC? It's really good.

    I loved the answers.

No, I haven't seen Robin Hood BBC yet! Perhaps I should look into watching that soon. :)

    2. :-D Can I also ask what sort of font you use?? It's exquisite!

    3. Why thank you! :) The font that I use for my header is called Sweet Pea. It's a free downloadable font that I found through this post: http://lifeatnumberfive.com/2015/04/07/free-script-fonts/
The font that I use for everything else is called Cardo.

  5. Ahhh! This post is simply scrumptious. I love all the pictures you chose! And Pride and Prejudice 1995!!! Ye-es! I agree whole-heartedly to all that you had to say about that movie! (And Lizzy's Netherfield Ball dress. I was just giving it a closer look and, wow! The detail in the fabric is gorgeous!)

6.) Ohhh! I recognize all these characters. And they're all SO good. Excellent choices, indeed. :)

8.) I'm delighted to find that P&P '95 and Emma 2009 are top on your Jane Austen list, too! They really are such excellent movies, though, aren't they? :D

11.) Nodding in agreement over your choice of couples. Love, love, love. :) I've never actually seen Northanger Abbey, but I enjoy Henry and Catherine in the book SO much!! :D

This was fun, Molly! Thanks so much for doing it.

    1. Thank you so much, Miss March!

Right?! At first glance the dress looks rather simple, but the more I looked at it, I knew it had to be included on my list of favorites! I love all the shimmery gold details in the fabric. :)

Oh yes, both those movies are absolutely wonderful! <3

Northanger Abbey is a cute movie! (Aside from a few scenes to fast forward through). Henry and Catherine are just as adorable in it as they are in the book. :)

Oh you're welcome, thank YOU for tagging me! :D

  6. Oh, great answers, Molly!!
I haven't seen Pride&Prejudice 1995, but so want to! Everyone talks about it as if it is the best movie(or serie) ever made!
Emma's dresses are sooooo pretty and that balldress is the perfect dress to wear to a ball. And you're right about Mr Knightley and Emma, they are so perfect together. Little Dorrit is very good, and Downton Abbey is actually pretty good also, although after season 3 it becomes a little bit dark and gloomy, which approves a bit in season 5, and season 6 is not that bad too. Also Call the Midwife is great and Robin Hood BBC is one of my favourite series! It's really great, although in the first it might seem a little bit boring but it gets way better later, but season 3 is the season I like less.
Gilmore Girls is also great, but it is not a Period Drama.

Oh yes, you should definitely watch P&P 1995 sometime! It's amazing how closely it follows the book.
I know, right? She's got one of the best period drama wardrobes, in my opinion. :)
Thanks for the input on those shows! I'll have to look into watching them soon. :)
      Thanks for your comment!

  7. How I love making tags… one of mine passions hehehe I collect them! Really! And I you don’t mind I’d like save this because if I love making tags I love even more tags about period dramas.
By the way, I hope you love Cranford, I fell in love with this series and its book.
