Happy November First!

Hi everyone, and happy first day of November! I can hardly believe that October has already come and gone, but I'm not exactly complaining. As much as I love October, November is definitely one of my favorite months of the year. Well, maybe I'm a little biased, since it also happens to be my birthday month, but it truly is such a beautiful time of year! Where I live, November is usually when fall finally starts to settle in; the weather starts cooling off for good, and all of the trees are just bursting with color. And during November, there always seems to be such a festive, holiday feel in the air, with Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching. :)

I'm sorry I haven't been able to post on here as frequently as I'd like to! My schoolwork and other commitments have been keeping me pretty busy, but I'm still going to try and put up a post on here every now and then. Today I thought I would just drop in and let you know some things I've been up to lately. :)

  • Getting excited for my birthday! I'm turning seventeen this Saturday, the fifth, so I'm looking forward to this weekend quite a bit! My younger sister's birthday is the day after mine, so we're having a small combined birthday party with our family this Friday night. Then on Saturday, the day of my birthday, we're planning on going to Colonial Williamsburg for the afternoon! I'm so excited about just walking around, taking pictures, and seeing all of the colorful fall trees!
  • Reading the Little House books. I never read the series when I was younger, but I'm making up for that now, and I've really been enjoying them! I'm on These Happy Golden Years now, and I'm loving it. Laura and Almanzo are seriously the cutest, and there are so many adorable moments between those two in this book. :)
  • Working on a Christmas playlist. Yes, already! My family decided that we'll start listening to Christmas music this Friday, so I wanted to have the playlist ready by then. It's filled with all of my family's favorite Christmas tunes--everything from Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and Charlie Brown Christmas, to the Nsync Christmas album (it's soo good!) and some Phineas and Ferb Christmas songs (my siblings love that show!). So yes, quite a variety, but that's what makes it fun, right? ;) When do y'all start listening to Christmas music?
  • Reading through the book of Psalms. This has been such a blessing to me! I'm reminded daily of the Lord's steadfast love and care, and that I can always turn to Him for strength and refuge. :)

What is your favorite thing about fall/November?
What have you been up to recently?

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hello sweet Molly and a happy November to you too! Ah...I love this month of the year so much too...{{Smiles}}. I for one can hardly believe that the second last month of 2016 is upon us! Oh, birthdays are SO wonderful, aren't they? How sweet that you'll be having a combined birthday party with your younger sister...my sister, Nancy, also turned seventeen this year and had a celebration with Sofia who turned five! Aww, it was just lovely! Happy birthday in advance!
I am so glad you've discovered the Little House series! They are true favourites of mine and I've read our books so often that the pages are falling out! Laura is my inspiration for a great many things...
I too am reading through the Psalms - how encouraged and uplifted my heart has been!
    You have a delightful week and enjoy your Christmassy music, friend! I have begun playing mine...when I'm alone otherwise the family complain that they've had their fill of Christmas music by December 1st! {{Smiles}}
    Love and hugs,
    Kelly-Anne

    1. Thank you, Kelly-Anne!! I know, this year just seems to have blown by so quickly! That's so neat that your sisters had a combined birthday party, too! I think it's nice sharing a birthday with someone, because then you can both get excited together. :) Oh yes, the Little House books are delightful! They've definitely become new favorites of mine, and I'm sure I'll be re-reading them soon. How cool that you're reading the Psalms as well! There are so many inspiring verses in that book, aren't there? I hope you have a lovely week as well, and you enjoy your Christmas music, too! Thanks for your sweet comment!

  2. Whoohoo for November birthday! I'm the 20th so a little way off yet but it's sure coming up! I read the Little House books when I was very young and have always loved them. On the other hand (and this might offend some people) I cannot STAND the TV series. Seriously, it's so historically inaccurate and untrue to the books people! My favourite Little House book has to be Little Town on the Prairie and yes, I agree, Almanzo + Laura = cute couple alert (even if she did want to ditch him after she left the Brewsters to go out with Cap Garland).
There's nothing like christmas music to put you in the mood! I have an Aussie christmas music CD I love to listen to (because I'm Aussie lol) and once hot weather arrives for good, Christmas will feel like it's just peeking around the corner.
Psalms are just so full of thought provoking statements, aren't they? I'm in Jeremiah right now and finding little gems that I never knew existed.
Also that Psalm 37:4 verse you quoted is my life verse! :)
I've only followed for a little while, but your blog's great! :)

    1. Oh cool, happy early birthday to you!! :) Yeah, I've heard that the TV series is pretty inaccurate to the books, so I'm not sure if I want to watch it. I wouldn't want it to change how I picture the characters and everything! Ooh yes, Little Town on the Prairie is one of my favorites so far, too. :)
Christmas music is probably my favorite music genre, haha. But I guess it must be funny to hear Christmas songs like Jingle Bells and Sleigh Ride, when in Australia Christmas is during the summertime!
Maybe I'll read through Jeremiah next, then! :)
      Thanks for your comment!

  3. Ugh, I know it's such a busy time of year with school and whatnot! But happy birthday! :) That's cool that you're sharing it with your sister; I used to share my party with either my brother or my best friend! And HOW COOL is it that you're going to Williamsburg?? Hopefully they'll have taken down the skeletons by then; they're Halloween celebration looked really icky this year!
I'm terrible for this, but I've already listened to some Christmas music on a few of the colder October days! :P But I've kept it to subtle Christmas music. I won't really start until Thanksgiving, but then you'd better believe I'm pulling out all the stops!
Have fun finishing Little House books and Psalms! :)

    1. Thanks, Abby! Oh cool! It can be so neat sharing your birthday party with someone. :) I know, I'm so looking forward to it! Yeah, I hope they've taken down the Halloween decorations by now; I don't really want those to be in the pictures I take! I'm more than ready to move onto Thanksgiving and Christmas. :)
I have to admit, I actually listened to some Christmas music towards the end of October, too! It was just too tempting not to, but since then I've forced myself to wait just a little longer. I don't think I could hold out until after Thanksgiving, though! :)
      Thanks, I sure will!

  4. Oh Wow! First of all, HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!
Oh! The Little House books! What is your favorite so far? Mine are Little House in the Big Woods, On the Banks of Plum Creek, and These Happy Golden Years!
Oh yes! We went shopping yesterday and Christmas decorations are already up! Nov.-Jan. you just have to listen to Christmas music! Have you ever listened to Cherish The Ladies? They have some very nice Christmas songs!
Lucky! You still hav color! All the color is gone here and we are expecting snow, but that is fine with me!
I'm just trying to do eveything at once!
    Great post!!!

    1. Thank you!! I think my favorites so far are Little House in the Big Woods, Farmer Boy, Little Town on the Prairie, and These Happy Golden Years. (I couldn't pick just one!)
Oh wow, y'all are on top of things! Yes, November-January is ideal for listening to Christmas music. I'll listen to it as long as I possibly can! No, I don't think I've heard of Cherish the Ladies, but I'll have to look them up. :)
Oh yes, we still have lots of color here, and today the temperature was in the eighties! Thankfully from now on though it's supposed to be cooling off for good. Snow already?! That's awesome! We usually have to wait until January or February for snow here in VA.
      Thanks for your comment! :D

  5. First of all: Marvellous L. M. Montgomery quote! Any post that starts with one of those is, in my opinion, sure to be good. And this one is!!

Oooh, yes, Fall is like that here, too! It's sooooo gorgeous right now!

Happy birthday in a couple of days!!! That sounds like so much fun!!!

I LOVE Laura and Almanzo!!! These Happy Golden Years has always been my favourite one of those books. I've read that series at least twice, but These Happy Golden Years probably 3 or 4 times!! :)

That sounds like an awesome playlist! I love Christmas music, but the main thing is that my sister ADORES it, so we've already started hearing it and we're sure to hear more!!!

Psalms is great! I read it about a year ago. It's so full of wonderful verses.

I always love seeing a post from you, Molly! This was lovely!!!

    1. I know, isn't it such a lovely quote?
YES, fall is just so, so beautiful! I wouldn't at all mind if the trees kept their autumn leaves on all year round. :)
      Thank you!! I'm so excited!
Right?! They are so adorable! I'm almost at the end of These Happy Golden Years now, and I'd have to say that out of my favorites so far in the series, this one is my favoritest. ;)
Christmas music is simply the best! My parents and siblings all LOVE listening to it, too, so it's bound to be on at my house 24/7.
It really is! I find myself highlighting entire chapters sometimes, just because every single verse is so wonderful and encouraging.
Thank you for your sweet comment as always, Rae! :D

  6. Happy Birthday Molly Rebekah!!!! Your reading the little house books?! I LOVE them!!!
My favourite thing about fall is when the leaves falling from trees, when I drink hot choco on a cold day, by the heath of a fireplace. :)

What have I been doing the last time? Blogging, reading and going to school.

    1. Thanks, Rachel! I loooove the Little House books, too! I finished the last book the other day, and I didn't want the series to end! It's officially one of my new favorite series. :)
Yes to all three of those things! Fall is such a cozy and festive season, isn't it?
